Mona Mangan, of the WGA-East is on now. Interesting that she came all the way from NY to a hearing for the LA community. A sign, surely, of an attempt by EMI unions to show their concern about the issues at stake and to send the EMI employers a message about how the unions can work together. WGA, east, of course is an AFL-CIO affiliate as is the S.A.G., but the WGA, west, is not, though the two guilds recently signed a landmark cooperation agreement. Her message is concentrating on the news broadcasting world. Diversity is a key theme here, too, noting the absence of any significant presence in management for asians, hispanics, or african americans.
