Fox took out the heavy artillery today. I was interviewed for a story on it from Bloomberg today. Of course, SAG and AFTRA have been competing over new territory for the last few years, with SAG running into trouble over a meeting between top SAG brass and actors on the AFTRA repped show, Bold and the Beautiful.
Clearly, the Producers hope to exploit the tensions now.
Variety’s take is worth reviewing as well here. Apparently by late afternoon, Fox had backed down on the issue of transitioning current shows, which of course are already are covered under existing labor agreements.
But new shows are a different matter.
