Soft power blowback: NGO worker cases sent to Egypt court in funding row

There is likely no basis to the charges against these NGO activists, but you reap what you sow.

The “democracy and human rights” movement has been at least in part coopted to be part of the “soft power” wing of US foreign policy (witness all those liberal human rights activists now part of Obama’s national security state).

Hence we cannot be surprised if authoritarian regimes abuse these groups for their own ends.
